Surbiton Library and the neighbouring Sessions House building are under threat of closure with a view to being sold off for private development. This would also potentially involve relocation of the War Memorial. We the undersigned petition the Council to keep the library and Sessions House in Council ownership

Background information

At an Asset Strategy Meeting on 25th April 2012, Cllr Liz Green, who is also Deputy Leader of Kingston Council, expressed her wish to sell off Surbiton Library together with Sessions House. She stated that the British Legion would be kept informed from the outset as to plans for the War Memorial located on the land. Cllr Liz Green will shortly be conducting a Library Review.
