There are no provisions of childcare places offered as an alternative, there is not sufficient childcare facilities in Chessington. The tone of the letter from RBK is indicative that the premises the nursery reside on would be more profitable for the council if an alternative business venture was to use them, it mentions discussion about the future of the building, there have been no discussions of the current use of the building. The nursery takes up a fraction of the space in the building and is paying for use of the space. Staff and parents fundraise for improvements. Parents have not even been offered the opportunity to discuss ways of saving the nursery. Had the council increased the tax by about 13p more, this would have forced the Council to hold a referendum on whether residents approved of the tax hike.
